UNCOVERED! Gov Alia Mobilizes Thugs To Disrupt Akume’s Birthday

The embattled Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Alia has taken his brawl with Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Senator George Akume to a peak as there are reports that the governor has hired thugs and jobless youths to embark on massive protests in parts of the state during the 70th birthday celebrations of Akume holding between Tuesday and Wednesday. 

Alia tested the waters last Friday in Makurdi when he mobilized youths who carried a coffin and marched on the streets to protest with chants and placards saying “No Alia, No Benue”. 

The protest came a day after members of the Benue Caucus in the National Assembly held a press conference in Abuja and lambasted the governor for running the state like his personal business and acting like a dictator. 

According to sources, the planned protests against Akume’s birthday are aimed at sending a message to President Bola Tinubu or his delegation to the birthday that governor Alia is loved by Benue people and that the SGF is the one who doesn’t want the governor to work in peace. 

Many of the thugs who are already camped in Makurdi, Gboko and Vandeikya have been given the assignment to lead a large group of protesters made up of different groups including some civil servants and pensioners who will carry placards with inscriptions such as “We Love Gov Alia”, “Akume Leave Alia Alone” “Tinubu, Alia Is Doing What Benue People Want” and “Touch Alia, Touch Benue People”. 

A reliable source who happened to visit the printing press where the pro-Alia placards and banners were being printed yesterday at High Level in Makurdi, said one of the media aides to the governor and a notorious thug in Makurdi were seen discussing within the premises of the printing press obviously on the number of copies to be printed and the mode of distribution to the groups of hired protesters. 

The planned protests, according to our sources, will be staged spontaneously in Makurdi on Tuesday the 26th of December when guests for Akume’s 70th birthday will be arriving from Abuja and other parts of the country. 

That day (Tuesday) is set for the commissioning of the remodeled State Secretariat of the APC in Makurdi which is renamed TINUBU HOUSE which will be followed by a colloquium and symposium the same day at the School of Health Sciences of Benue State University. 

The protests are to intensify the next day along Gboko-Makurdi road as dignitaries and other people will be heading to Wannune, Tarka, Akume’s hometown for the grand reception and thanksgiving ceremonies marking the birthday of the SGF. 

Alia has reportedly told his inner circle that he is the man in charge of Benue State and he won’t allow anyone to mess him up. His aides have repeatedly accused Akume of being the hand behind the accusations against him in the media that he is running a corrupt and dictatorial government.
